Sketchbook Environments

Over the past few months, artists in our Envision program have been researching the subject of Environments in their sketchbooks. They have been exploring the meaning of the word itself and its relationship to the natural world, our built environment, physical space, ecological concerns, our material reality, and future imaginings.
Artists have made and used viewfinders to capture their objects and spaces in a 5"x 5" format. Photo documentation of these natural and created environments are then used as inspiration for developing images made with a broad range of both traditional and non-traditional materials and processes. The works shown here represent an overview of these visual explorations.
