During this on-site workshop, participants will work with abstract and semi-abstract painting and printing processes to capture the vital energies of Chicago's beautiful lakefront setting. Working with both traditional and untraditional materials and methods, Lake Michigan and its shoreline, beaches, and local plant life will provide color, texture, and linear inspiration for developing nature-based abstract images.
Students are required to bring their sketchbooks (mixed-media paper is recommended), watercolor paints, brushes, and drawing pens and pencils. Additional materials will be provided by the instructor. Participants are also encouraged to bring folding chairs or stools, water bottles, hats, and sunscreen. A public parking lot is nearby, street parking is a few blocks away, and a snack shop and restroom are within close walking distance. An itinerary with meeting location and workshop agenda will be emailed to all registered participants.
Students of all levels are welcome to attend and no prior drawing or painting experience is required.
